Our president, Alexandra Houle, was invited to Ian and Frank's podcast to dive into the heart of the constitution project proposed by Minister Simon Jolin-Barrette.
In this conversation, Alexandra discusses the major issues surrounding Bill 1 and explains why the RFQ will submit its own brief during the public consultations. The goal: to provide a necessary counterbalance to the discourse of other organizations that present themselves as feminist—but are largely state-funded—and that advocate for positions that are, to say the least, controversial.
Some of these organizations indeed wish to remove the mention of equality between men and women from Quebec's future constitution. A worrying proposal, which raises fundamental questions about the protection of rights and how equality is conceived in Quebec.
